This converter turns any Gregorian (Western) calendar date into its Chinese lunar (nongli) equivalent. It reports the lunar year in the traditional sixty-year stem-and-branch cycle, the matching zodiac animal, and the lunar month and day using classical Chinese names such as first month and third day. The conversion is driven by a compact lookup table encoding the exact structure of every lunar year from 1900 to 2100, including which months are long or short and where leap months fall, so results match the official Chinese calendar rather than an approximation.
Leap lunar months are labelled with a leap prefix so they are never confused with the regular month of the same number. Dates are read as local calendar days with no time-of-day component, and the whole conversion runs in your browser with nothing uploaded. Because the table stops at 2100, dates outside the 1900–2100 range are rejected.
